From 20 to 23 October 2022 Ernst Halbmayer and Anne Goletz worked in
the depot of the Museum of World Cultures (Världskulturmuseet) in
Gothenburg, Sweden, as part of SP-3 on Yukpa Graphic Communication
systems in Tio-tio writing and material culture. They examined and
documented graphic elements on several hundred objects collected
between 1914 and 1968 by Gustaf Bolinder and Lars Persson in the
Serranía del Perijá, the territory of the Yukpa in Colombia and
Venezuela. This documentation will be used to research the Yukpa’s
Tio-tio pictographic writing and object-based graphic communication
systems. Furthermore, it will be made available to the Yukpa.
